So bored of counting calories.

I'm totally bored with calorie counting... like bored to the point of wanting to quit. I try to do about a 1200 calories per day diet. What are some good tasting foods that you guys have made for under 500 calories or so?

I know that we don't usually think of rice as low calorie, at least I didn't used to, but it is. You can make any number of vegetable and rice dishes for well under 500 calories. The rice helps the vegies seem more filling too

Yeah, I guess the normal short grain white rice (cheap) that you buy at the grocery store is around 700 calories per cup raw. But that would make well over two cups of rice, way more than I need for a meal. A half a cup of raw rice will make, say, one and a quarter cups of cooked rice. That would only be 350 calories or so. That leaves 150 calories for some vegies - that's a lot of vegetables. Sounds like a plan, I'll give that a shot.

Rice is ok, but in the end it's not great when trying to lose weight. You're far better off just making a healthy lifestyle change and eating more vegetables. If you can train yourself to like cauliflower and broccoli you'll have a much easier time to lose weight

Cabbage too. Cabbage is a great food for weight loss
